Crysis 2 Demo Impressions

So, I've spent the past few hours trying out the Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo. There isn't a ton offered in the demo, but I am pretty satisfied with the game. This demo shows how crisp and refined the game is on levels of gameplay and graphics. One of my biggest letdowns is the seeming similarity it has to Modern Warfare 2. Everything in it is quick and frantic, much like Modern Warfare 2. In Crysis 2 however, the Nano-suit offers some new dimensions to the game such as cloaking and shields. I will state right now that Crysis will require far more skill than Modern Warfare 2 or most FPSs for that matter. This skill sadly seems to revolve around one thing: the Nano-suit. Now, this is only the demo and I'm sure that the full game will offer much more in terms of upgrades and such, so I do greatly look forward to this purchase. If you like the quick pace in Modern Warfare 2,  you will love how Crysis 2 is executed.

Battlefield 3 Gameplay Footage

Despite being secretly recorded with a cell phone or something, this video is somewhat mind blowing. I find it incredible how refined Battlefield 3 is looking already. I mean, every little aspect just seems perfect. Even then, there's still months left in development. All in all, this video will make you want the game much more than you already do.

Alright, it was just released and it has me more excited than ever for the release of Battlefield 3. Some disappointing things to me are the little things that remind of Call of Duty. The dog, the people walking around... but thats just cinematics. Once it gets to gameplay, I realize that this is far superior. Please watch and enjoy!

Mojang's Next Game: Scrolls

Well, as I am a huge fan of Notch and his company, I have been following them somewhat intensely. No, not stalking them, but reading up on daily news and personal things. A very recent discovery brings to light something that we have all known about for some time. The company Mojang, which Notch is a part of, announced that they were working on a new game. Their first "try-hard" game. They kept details about it pretty secret until... well today. They finally let out that the game they are working on is called Scrolls. Beyond that and its website, I don't know a whole lot about it. This is however a brand new dimension for the company and as they have stated, they see it going either way. They have established a massive fanbase already with Minecraft, and they think that Scrolls with deter and attract different people. Really though, my only hope is that Minecraft still remains in focus for a long amount of time. Anyway, I will be following the development of Scrolls pretty closely, but for now, check out the site here: http://www.scrolls.com/.

Skyrim Trailer

Well, a trailer was released today (or last night?) for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. If you haven't already seen it, you need to see it. And I have graciously provided it to you!

Operation Flashpoint: Red River Debut Trailer

Another great game coming out this year, in April I believe, Operation Flashpoint: Red River will probably provide the most realistic combat shooter available on consoles. Though the first installment: Dragon Rising received a lot of criticism, both good and bad, I really enjoyed the game. So obviously, I am looking forward to Red River. Set as Marines in Tajikistan fighting the Chinese Red Army, Red River seems more refined than ever. Check out the debut trailer!

Crysis 2: Story Trailer

Of course, with my monster gaming computer almost completed I can rightfully look forward to Crysis 2. The first installment was practically a PC benchmarker. If your computer could run it... well, your computer was a god. Anyway, Crysis 2 is also being ported to consoles, and much like Battlefield 3, the PC version should still have the best features and effects. So for everyone looking forward to it, the story trailer was just released. So take a look!

Bulletstorm Demo Impressions

So I just spent the last hour playing the Bulletstorm demo, and have mixed feelings. Please realize that this is my second most looked forward to game of 2011, so my expectations were clearly quite high. Anyway, from what I played tonight, it was ultimately enjoyable. I played the map about 4 times through. The biggest problem I had was getting inspiration for skillshots. I felt like I was stupid by simply shooting them; I felt obligated to perform skillshots. I guess that that isn't a bad thing, considering the game revolves around skillshots, but it still seemed too forced. The map was pretty sweet, the three enemy types were obviously specialized in something, and the teammates were useless. Actually, the teammates ruined my skillshots more than anything else. I do realize that the full game will feature way more skillshots and enemies and weapons, but I sincerely hope there is more inspiration for using them all to the best advantage. All in all, the game seems to be on the right track for sure; for me though, its a little farther down that track than I expected.

Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 is the second biggest game I'm looking forward to this year (Skyrim is 1st). Anyway, as long as EA can get it out before the holiday season, I will be one happy camper. Having just been revealed, Battlefield 3 is already gathering a lot of hype. With the DICE developers working on the Bad Company series, they have stayed in good shape since Battlefield 2, the last big PC Battlefield game (unless you want to count 2142). Battlefield 3 will of course be in the modern era and will feature a few real world maps. Going back to the multiplayer basics that made the series what it is, this will probably be the biggest PC shooter to date. Now it is releasing for consoles as well, but recent news is showing that those won't be as promising as the PC version. So far, the PC version will be the only version with dedicated servers and more than 24 player matches. So, this holiday will be a great time to be a PC gamer so you can get the best of the real Battlefield series. Until more news surfaces, this here teaser trailer will have to tide the crowds over. Fallout: New Vegas DLC Dead Money coming to PC and PS3

Good news for PS3 and PC gamers this month! The DLC, Dead Money, for the amazing game Fallout: New Vegas will finally be released for PlayStation 3 and PC on February 22. Of course, this is not the only good news. Bethesda also stated that there will be at least three more DLC releases after Dead Money. And to be more fair, Bethesda said they will be released for each system simultaneously. So, every fan of Fallout: New Vegas should have something to look forward to. I know I certainly am!

PSP 2! (NGP)

Recently uncovered, the second PSP is long overdue. Back a few years ago, when the PSP 2 was expected, they brought out the PSP Go! It was a huge disappointment to the company and some fans. Finally however, the PSP 2, or NGP (next generation portable), has been revealed!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls series already has a massive fan base from Oblivion and Morrowind, and now they are adding the fifth installment to the series: Skyrim. Skyrim will take place in, of course, Skyrim (a province just north of Cyrodil). Bethesda has already stated and shown that Skyrim will use a brand new graphics engine; a graphics engine that looks promising even still in development. Not only a huge graphical revamp, but Skyrim will feature some new game mechanics that will hopefully make the experience much better.

Contact Lens Mouse

  The I Contact is a prototype contact lens that will act as a mouse for your computer. The design is really quite simple; tiny microchips in the lens will track your eye movement and display the mouse on the screen correspondingly. It is in development for disabled people in particular, but still, who wouldn't want to try it out. I can't really imagine what one would have to do in order to click, but forced blinking would make the most sense. All in all, the concept is really quite amazing. I haven't been able to find an estimated release for this, but I will be on the lookout.

Modern Combat: Domination - A PS3 Exclusive Shooter with PlayStation Move

So here's what I believe is the first real shooter with PlayStation Move support. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Of course, you don't have to use Move if you don't want to or don't have it, but it will certainly show what the experience will be like in the future. I expect it will go over quite well actually. Anyway, this PS3 exclusive is set for release on January 18th, which is really soon! The gameplay, from what I can see, reminds me mostly of a mix between Counter Strike and Modern Warfare 2. For a PSN game (and certainly for 8 bucks), Modern Combat has some great graphics and what should be some intense, interesting gameplay. Expect a review on the day of release to let you know how it all pans out in the end. And watch the trailer below!

Minecraft for Android

So I found this little tid-bit of info flying around the web... there is a Minecraft for Android in development. Notch is working on something for Android for sure (I'm actually testing it). But apart from Notch's work, someone else has created something rather intriguing. With this application, the user can upload a Minecraft world and explore it on their phone. Nothing more, nothing less, but still a great proof of concept. There is more to come for sure, for now though, watch the video and take a look at what Notch is working on.

Voxatron Preview

Here is a sweet game that Notch (the creator of Minecraft) tweeted. It isn't out yet, but it is something to look forward to for sure. Developed by Lexaloffle, an indy game developer, it already has quite a bit of popularity. Watch the video!

New Uncharted 3 Gameplay Revealed!

A much anticipated title in 2011, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception looks to wow us again with great gameplay, immersive plot, and stunning graphics. Take a look at the latest gameplay video below.

Already, I can't wait for this game. The movements in this one seem even more fluid than in the last two, and the fire effects and spread are amazing. Realistic physics, AI behavior, and amazing voiceovers are just a few of the things that will return in the third installment except this time they will be more refined than ever.
